DescriptionObjects 1998-1-1081a-g are technical drawings by Ebenezer Gay of the working model of the Trevithick locomotive by W. M. Stiles, London, circa 1829 (CHSI 6902). These drawings were made during a restoration of the instrument in 1982 by Ebenezer Gay, and there are notes about the materials and finishes he found on the original instrument and the methods he used to conserve and restore it.
1998-1-1081a-f are six drawings on large parchment-paper sheets, 20 x 24 inches, in landscape format. The drawings were first penciled and then inked. Descriptions and notes are in Gay's distinctive calligraphy. 1998-1-1081g is a 3 x 5 inch note card also in Gay's hand. These are labeled:
