Description:
A radiosonde for transmitting pressure, temperature and relative humidity data from the atmosphere. The instrument consists of two pieces; one housed in a metal and wood half-cylinder, the other in a wooden box.
The wooden box, which has a removable wooden access panel, contains a vacuum tube transmiter and a copper coil mounted to a metal bracked attached to the box, with space for a battery. The box has a twill cloth carrying handle attached to one end. A coiled cloth-covered wire, which is the antenna, is attached to the transmitter and extends through the box. Another length of cord is attached to the half-cylinder, with a ceramic element attached to one end.
The wooden box is labeled with a metal tag which reads "FEIBER INSTRUMENT CO / CAMBRIDGE MASS USA."
The mechanism is constructed by Feiber Instrument Company, and was designed to be battery-powered and clock-driven.
