Description:
This is a Leitz phase compound microscope.
It has a modern, non-inclinable stand with a triangular cast iron base. The arm is a curved hook attached to an upright rectangular support that carries the rack and pinion and focusing knobs. The end of the arm carries an inclined binocular tube marked 1.25X. There is a quadruple, revolving nosepiece. The coarse and fine focus are mounted on concentric drums. Coarse focus is by rack and pinion. Fine focus is by micrometer screw.
The square mechanical stage has two verniers. The substage illuminating apparatus includes a phase condenser with revolving wheel and iris diaphragm, all mounted on a vertical frame that can be adjusted by rack and pinion. The base has a socket to hold a lamp or mirror. Neither is present.
Eyepieces are by Leitz and all but one objective. That is by Zeiss.
