Description:
This is part of a globe sundial. It consists of a crude brass meridian arm that holds a 2 1/2-inch marble globe by its polar axis. The base of the meridian arm extends into a long point of hammered brass. It appears as if the point were to be driven into a wooden post. The other end of the meridian arm terminates in a pointer that traces the equinoctial circle on the globe. The latter is covered with a cloth tape on which hours are written I-XII twice. The tape fills in and covers a wide groove that went around the globes equator. The globe is incised with hour lines above and below the hour scale.
