Description:
A voltmeter, housed in a fan-shaped metal case, engraved with a decorative pattern, mounted on a square wooden base. The base has two binding posts and a press button. The instrument has an arc-shaped display panel, through which a paper scale, arc-shaped reflecting strip and knift-edge instrument indicator may be seen. The instrument has a dual scale is marked 0-100 and 0-10-0.
Printed below the scale, "WESTON / DIRECT READING / MILLI-VOLTMETER." Two star designs are printed on either side of the company name.
A metal plaque is positioned on the face of the instrument, below the scale, which reads, "WESTON ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT CO. / MODEL 1 NO. 8794 NEWARK, N.J." Another plaque reads, "PATENTED 1890."
The wooden base has two binding posts and a press-button.
Inside, and partly visible through a round display window, the instrument's indicator is attached to a moving coil and a horseshoe-shaped magnet.
