FunctionThis galvanometer was used in the Department of Chemistry at Harvard to detect and measure electrical current. Current is introduced into a movable coil with an attached needle suspended between the poles of a magnet, which induces a magnetic field that causes the coil to rotate in proportion to the current, and the deflection of the needle can then be read on the scale.
ProvenanceFrom the Department of Chemistry, Harvard University, 11/1980.
