FunctionThe keyboard is a manual input device through which users communicate with a computer. Keyboards are for inputting symbolic information (commonly for word processing and programming purposes). They are equipped with several buttons (modeled after typewriter buttons) that communicate electronically with the central processing unit of the computer.
This particular device was used by the staff of the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments for cataloguing, data processing, and researching purposes in conjunction with an Apple personal desktop computer (2000-1-0036a).
