Description:
Long cathode filaments supported by a hollow glass base with two long thick wires attached. A metal collar, secured with screws, supports a heavy wire grid that surrounds the cathode filaments, with one wire extending down toward base. The top of the grid is a flat round metal plate. The cathode has three filaments: the outer two are connected to the power source and they split near base of grid into thin wire loops; the third filament, between the two others, has a needle tip fused into glass of cathode base and upper tip wrapped with fine wire.

FunctionThe cathode and the grid of a triode; the anode (which is missing) was probably a metal sheath into which these would be inserted.
