Historical AttributesThe Cary model 11 was the first commercial ultraviolet-visible, recording spectrophotometer. In April 1947 Applied Physics Corporation of Pasadena, California, under the leadership of Howard Cary, the first one was delivered to the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh, USA. This example dates from about 1951.
