Description:
A somewhat simplified, large, painted plaster model of the left cerebral hemisphere exhibiting exaggerated convolutions. The various lobes of the brain are identified by a colored number/letter system. Red is for the frontal lobe; blue for the parietal; yellow for the temporal; and green for the occipital. Black writing has been used to identify those lobes that are visible from the inside of the medial cut.
The anatomical model sits on a cushion. It is made with a wood frame filled with straw, and is covered in brown velveteen fabric. The fabric is fraying and split in places. There is a maker's plaque of brass on the cushion.
