A tall brass cylinder mounted on three ornate feet that are further mounted to a round brass base plate. The top of the cylinder features two upward-facing screws that appear to have been used for attaching another device or apparatus. There is a (frozen) stop-cock at the bottom of the cylinder, which controls the flow through a pipe that goes from the cylinder down to the base, which is perforated to give access to the pipe.

FunctionThe exact function of this device is unknown, but it appears to have been attached to an air pump. This device would control the air flow, and the experiment would have been conducted on top of this device, most likely a glass globe attached to it.
