DescriptionA hollow plastic conversion card printed on both sides, with a transparent slider containing a single vertical black line at its center, and a column on the left where the units of the scales to be converted are printed. A second card inside is printed with a scale that is seen through a window on one of the scales on the back of the card.
The front of the card is titled "OPTICAL SPECTRUM / BAND WIDTH CONVERSION CALCULATOR", and contains 10 horizontal scales in a vertical arrangement. The scales are logarithmic, extending from a wavelength of 0.1 microns on the left, to 100 microns on the right. In addition to wavelength, which is the scale closest to the bottom, it contains (top to bottom) delta-e.v.; delta-J (Joules); delta-sigma (cm^-1); delta-frequency; delta-wavelength (Anstroms); sigma (cm^-1); e.v.; Joules and frequency (Hz).
On the back side, the card contains several physical and mathematical constants, a table titled "IMPORTANT LASER WAVELENGTHS", with the values for Helium-Neon, Argon, Krypton ion, Co2, Ruby and YAIG lasers.
Below, the back side has two conversion scales. The first one is a simple fixed scale titled "OPTICAL DENSITY" above and "TRANSMISSION" below.
The second scale, titled "LENS FORMULA CALCULATOR" is a superposition of a fixed scale on the bottom titled "F" and a moveable scale titled "S" which is displaced by pulling the inside card.
