FunctionThis is a triode amplifier meant for UHF (Ultra-High-Frequency). As other triodes, it has a cathode, grid and anode, but they are flat elements very close to each other, which diminishes the delay in the amplified signal.
Historical AttributesThis tube is found in a collection of tubes that David P. Wheatland used in the 1940s to teach radio engineering. The cluster is mounted on a wooden board. A tag in Mr. Wheatland's hand reads: TUBES USED IN DEMONSTRATION CONFERENCE N.T.S. COMMUNICATIONS - RADIO ENG. FOR 12 CLASSES ABOUT FEB 1942 TO JAN '43 BY DPW.
[Some tubes with the group are identified as donated later--e.g. VT1152.]
