Description:
An attachment piece, designed to be fixed on the rail of a polarimeter, is made of turned brass is fixed to an articulated brass arm. (It is marked with 4 dots for mounting purposes). At the other end of the arm is a knurled screw at right angles. The screw is free to turn and terminates in a rectangular block of brass. To this block is attached two steel springs, each of which holds a fork-mounted ring. A bolt goes through slots in the springs and holds them together. The two rings, forming a forceps clamp, were designed to hold a mineral sample.
