DescriptionThis is a Bausch & Lomb binocular laboratory GGBE compound microscope. The base is iron, V-shaped and blackened. The arm is C-shaped. The instrument is equipped with a binocular body. The coarse adjustment is by rack and pinion. The fine focus is the patented Bausch & Lomb lever-type. The fine focus knob is graduated. There is a double revolving nosepiece.
The stage is a square mechanical one with verniers. The substage condenser has an iris diaphragm and a slot for filters. The plano-concave mirror is on a fixed support are located to the frame that carries the illuminating apparatus up and down by rack and pinion.
Accessories include an optional monocular tube and a case with key. A glass flask holds immersion oil.
Oculars include a pair of 12.5 and a pair of 6.4 by B&L; a Leitz 8x; and an unsigned 3x micrometer eyepiece.
Objectives originally included a 4 mm, 16 mm, and a 1.8 mm fluorite. Only the canisters remain. The microscope currently has a Spencer Lens Co. objective of 48 mm 2.2X on the nosepiece.
