Description:
This is a black and white screenprint portrait of Wilhelm Eduard Weber (1804-1891) in a black wooden frame, probably based on an earlier black and white photograph. Weber, depicted here as a kind, smiling, elderly man in formal attire, was a German physicist who invented the first electromagnetic telegraph with Carl Friedrich Gauss. He was also an professor of physics at the University of Gottingen, known for his engaging lectures, and a creator of geomagnetic maps.
At the bottom of the portrait is a white strip printed with Weber's name.
