American Electric Company, Inc.
The American Electric Telephone Company was founded in 1894 by P.C. Burns in Kokomo, Indiana. In 1897 the company moved operations to Chicago. It initially produced telephones, switchboards, microphones and other telephony equipment, some under the brand name "Burns".
In 1911, the company filed for bankruptcy, however, the company and brand name seems to have continued until the early 1930s.
In the 1920s, the company also manufactured radio equipment such as loudspeakers and power supplies. Probably around that time the company shortened its name to American Electric Co.
