Automatic Radio Manufacturing Company Inc.
1920 - 1980
Founded in 1920, the company began as an automobile and home radio manufacturer, and through the 1960s it manufactured tape players, including the 8-track system.
Its radio manufacturing days ran from 1920 to 1957.
Competition from Asian companies drove Automatic Radio from its original business, specializing later in outdoor electrical products such as heaters and insect killing devices. The name of the company was changed to Armatron International in 1980, and nowadays it conducts business via its subsidiary, Flowtron.
