The Carl Zeiss, Optische Werkstätte, Jena (Carl Zeiss Optical Works, Jena), established in 1846 by Carl Zeiss, took on a new corporate name and trademark in 1904. The new name was Carl Zeiss, Jena. The new trademark was "CARL ZEISS / JENA" within the borders of a achromatic doublet lens.
