Hugo Münsterberg
1863 - 1916
Munsterberg was born in Gdansk, Poland in 1863. He earned a Ph.D. in psychology, University of Leipzig, 1885, and an M.D., University of Heidelberg, 1887. From 1887-1892, he was a professor at the University of Freiburg before coming at William James's invitation to Harvard. At Harvard he ran the Psychological Laboratory in the Department of Philosophy. In 1898, he was elected president of the American Psychological Association.
