Marie Salomea Sklodowska was a pioneer in the research of radiactivity, work for which she received a Nobel Prize in Physics along with Henri Becquerel and her husband Pierre Curie. In 1911, she won a second Nobel Prize for her discovery and isolation of the elements Radium and Polonium.
